Default 69 Firebird 400...almost done (it's killing me!) pics & movie

Well, 7 years later, my 69 400 Bird with matching #'s and too many upgrades is almost done.

Idle with new top end...

I put some of the New Vintage gauges in it, just dialing those in this week and it should be good to go...uh...maybe...LOL

When I can, I'll list all the upgrades...it's kind of deep. I'll wait to do that after the gauges are in, and everything is sorted out.

Good looking car , I had a white w red interior 69 convertible loved that color combo. This reminds me of it. Any side shots of the car?

I added the 1968 Firebird emblem to my 69's glovebox door.

But curious if in fact your car came that way originally? Really feel they should have on all 1969s

Really like that shade of red on the roof with the white paint. Looks good!

TBH, I don't know. The previous owner did the whole exterior & interior in another color (used to be verdoro green paint, and likely a black interior). The Bird emblem was on the glovebox when I got it in 2015. He did a mix of standard and deluxe interior parts (not sure the reasoning behind that).

Tom S said the same thing. He was on the 605 freeway one day and saw me going the other way and called me on the mobile. Said he knew I was driving since the car stood out from the rest on the freeway. LOL

He was probably going for a complete deluxe change over - then found out the interior door handle mechanism is a whole different animal between the two.
= No Go on the door panels.

Wild that he picked that color combo !
I would have thought it was an eclectic original owner choice that was kept in allegiance. Bit it smacks and pops no doubt.

I may have some deluxe door panels and mechanisms from my old convertible in red but the panels would likely need be recovered. I can look next time I’m at that shop. Love the car and its colors my convertible in those colors was a show stopper people loved that car. Sadly I rolled it over one day and that was the end of that car .

If you look close you can see the sweet KRACO cassette player w EQUALIZER and auto reverse ! Rolled that car in 88 or 89.

Notice also the cragars w pos a traction torque twister II n50 tires loved the look of those tires.

And yes those were “ members only” seat covers . Bwahahahha

I tried to get PUI to supply me with the Deluxe interior pieces, but once I saw the price and that they were on backorder, I canceled that idea...and yeah, I saw the door handles/mechanism were different as well. I'm going to live with the interior I've got, but thanks!

Thanks! That's as close as I could get to the interior color, and I think it stands out nicely. Now, if my New Vintage replacement gauges get here (they sent the wrong ones), I might actually be able to test drive this thing properly. It's been in the shop since March awaiting all the parts...supply chain issues...sheesh!
