Halo headlights?
2nd gen firebird, contemplating the amber color halo headlights to match the amber parking lights. amber halos on those new challengers look pretty good.
theres a ton of choices it appears. anyone using these? are they a simple plug and play or are modifications required? |

I have the Dapper Lighting 575's with their classic halo under OE style glass. I did not opt for switch backs, so these don't integrate with the turn signals. As far as lighting operations they are completely plug and play. Wiring for the halo is very straight forward on a switch 12v source.
Actual glass, not plastic, metal backing and the bi-xenon LED's I'm running are much better than the halogen sealed beams they replaced. Cons is the expense. These things aren't cheap.

I would at least try to pay attention to whether it’s marketed as a sealed beam replacement with a halo ring which is kind of what JL’s sound like due to being plug and play rather than what I assume most others are which is a sealed beam upgrade (usually with an H4 style bulb) with integrated halo rings. The plugs are the same between sealed beam and H4 but the terminal locations are different. Easy enough to move the terminals around in the plug or if you want to get fancy you could make (or even buy) adapters. I ran an H4 for a while and just swapped the terminals then swapped them back when I installed my Holley’s

How did you like the Holleys? They seem expensive.
I did glass enclosures, H4s, so I can pick whatever bulb I want. I have some on the Judge, bought some for the bird project, but haven't used them yet (build in progress). There are some things to be concerned about with enclosures, some don't work with certain types of bulbs that throw light in a particular pattern, so you have to choose a bulb with a pattern that matches the enclosure lens. It's not that difficult, but you should understand that before you shop. ,

HWYSTR, I love the Holley’s. They’re excellent although I only bought two for the outer housings on my T/A due to cost and I even bought mine on sale at $80 each plus tax and shipping. I forget what it cost but it was well over $200 still which is still pricy in my opinion for two lights.
So are they good? Absolutely. Are they $200 each regular price good? Not in my opinion. I don’t know what would be worth that to be honest.

$80ea is not bad, and I suspect they are of good quality and function correctly. Do agree double that is ridiculous.
The round ones cost even more I believe, but haven't looked in a while. On my bird, being in the 70-74 model range, are not cheap, and the GTO ones I had to buy 4. But, with the bulb, they were about $80 ea, so, comparable. I did all blue LEDs where I could on the GTO, I like the way it turned out. Doing green on the bird, suspect similar results. I have puddle lights too in matching colors, Pontiac emblem, have not installed them yet. I'm kinda hesitant to drill holes in the doors! .
