That's a pretty clean install there CNC, and the flexible line makes it easy to service the filter. And you paid attention to areas where it may have ran close to heat sources and covered the line. Nice.

And yeah, like I commented on the other thread, think you would need a 1/2 return line with the in tank pump and bypass. It has to be able to bypass enough to bring the psi down to carb levels.

I have a 462 with Edelbrock D ports and old faithful roller cam. With stock fuel lines in my 70 GTO I could run the bowl dry on my quadrajet. Going to 1/2 line cured that.
So now I have 1/2 feed line and stock return. Holley 950 ultra hp and run a roddmc 550 pump and pick up. If I go up high in elevation and its hot out the fuel will boil right in the bowls and out the vent and flood out the engine.
I have a tanks Inc tank with walbro pump ready to go in to remedy this situation. I will also be installing a 1/2 return line as HWYSTR455 has suggested.
Anyway just one more thing to think about.

What you've described happens a lot to me, (and i'm at sea level), and is probably happening to a lot of folks who blame other parts of the fuel system.
This ethanol laced fuel boils at a lower temp, (around 175 I think), than the old gas that carbs were designed for.
The boiling doesnt happen while in the pressurized line, but will boil in the atmospheric pressure of the carb bowl. I have a clear sight glass in my Holley carb, so I can see that it is happening. Happens to me usually after a shutting off the motor after a long drive and a short stoppage/restart situation. Drove to a restaurant with the wife yesterday, and after being there for an hour, the engine was flooded. Kinda embarrassing having to start the engine with a wide open throttle and the resulting smoke. I leave the hood up when I can to lessen the heat soak to the carb.
This ethanol fuel doesn't present a problem for modern fuel injected engines because the fuel is always under high pressure, so it never boils.

When I was on the power tour, and went through Cumberland Gap, the elevation side-lined a number of cars. I was in the clone, and had just done the fuel system, glad I did, but it still ran lean. I bumped up 2 jet sizes on primary and secondary to make the run back from TN.

I'm going to a Terminator throttle body setup on the clone, and FAST XFi direct multi-port on the LeMans. I'm done with carbs.

Nice thing on the clone, the fuel system is ready for EFI, have an O2 bung on the collector too. It will be a bolt and go thing.

Phenolic spacers, isolate the carb from the intake, and don't use a big drop base filter housings that trap heat. That helps a lot with the carb boiling. Helps. You can even wrap the bowl with a sheet of insulation/shield if you choose.

Or go EFI. We're not the only folks suffering, Pontiac folks, everyone else is suffering too. That's why there are so many offering retro fit kits.

I was having similar problems about a month ago when I was running 10% ethanol 93 octane from here on base. The hot starts were really pissing me off, and I suspected ethanol might be the culprit. I went to ethanol free gas, and the problem went away. There are tons of places around that sell ethanol-free 91 "marine gas". I got it for $3.18 yesterday right by my house, and you Alabama boys are running a good 15-20 cents cheaper. Here are the Alabama stations:

Topped off the tank with 100% gas today, (had about 5 gal of e10 in the tank).
Took the wife out for lunch, was there about 45 minutes. Came out of the restaurant and the GTO fired right up with no flooding from heat soak like before with the ethanol gas.
So, lesson learned, I'll be filling up with the straight stuff from now on.
