Default Radio n EFI

I have installed the Sniper EFI and really happy. Some minor bugs being sorted out likely due to RF, random rare (but enough to need solving). I have an aftermarket AM-FM-CD Sony I put in a ton of years ago. Can these cause RF issues? Thanks.

What you should NOT do is combine a bunch of device grounds into one wire and then connect the wire to metal ground. Each device should be connected to ground separately. Don't run wires that may be susceptable to electrical noise next to or in parallel to noise generating things like ignition coils. Insure all metals panels, etc. are connected together using grounding straps, firewall to engine, wheel wells, frame to firewall, to engine and then finally to the battery negative.

Very good point on the grounds. Some can be daisy chained, like instrument lights, things of that nature, but anything with a significant load should be dedicated.

The quality of a ground connection is also a concern, like if you wrap a stripped end of a wire around a screw on the exterior (underside, etc) , it can LOOK good, but be of high resistance. In time, it will degrade, no questions about that.

Best thing to do is use Thread-Serts, on panels and the frame, which gives a more permanent, high surface area for a ground path. A glob of battery post anti corrosive goo on exposed threads/surfaces is a good idea too.

Next best is star type ring terminals, clean the surface before install, and use the correct size for both the wire, as well as the bolt.

Quality wire is just common sense, no hardware store 'primary' wire please. TXL and GXL only.

Key ground points: Firewall to engine, engine to frame, battery to frame and/or engine, core to frame, fender to battery, and 2 grounds in rear, frame to body. IMO those all should be at least 12g wire, more for battery to frame/engine.

What problem/s are you having?
Ignition signal to ECM?
How old and what plug wires and plugs(resistor?)are you using?
Using ECM controlled timing?
Proximity of plug wires to spark trigger/ any sensor wiring?

Your radio should not be an issue as far as causing EMI, not a transmitter.

Clean power to ECM is a must!
