Hi,

Ive been waiting for my Mustang GT for ages now and im getting fed up. This drove me test drive the 2005 6M and it was awesome !!! some quick questions though

1 - What grade of gas does it use

2 - What typical MPG can i expect under reasonably enthusiastic driving ?

3 - Are there any serious issues to look for ? It seems as if paint is a problem

Sorry for asking dumb questions

Thanks

Steve

1-93 octain recamended, but will run on 89 without trouble. 2-I average around 19mpg. (thats for my daily city\highway work commute) 3-I have not had any paint issues with my 2004 GTO, nor have I seen any paint problems on ANY (hello red goat) of the GTO's that have come through the Pontiac dealer ship that I work for. I have driven a 2005 Mustang GT. It is an all around nice car, But if you want whats fastest (and dosn't every car guy?) stick with the GTO, if you can pony up (pardon the pun)the extra cash.

The manual recommends 93, but don't go down to 87 or you'll end up in "knocks"ville. The only gas I can find around here is 92 and mine runs fine with that. I just throw in a can of octane booster every 2 or 3 tanks. As for mileage, my M6 gets around 18-19 with fairly aggressive driving(ok, sometimes too aggresive), mixture of highway and city driving. But I did just go to Seattle and back today, 200+ highway miles and a few in the city, and averaged 24mpg. Aside from poor dealer prep, paint is the most common issue I've heard of or experienced. If you want the full scoop go to LS1GTO.com and post your questions. Lots of 04-05 owners with plenty of experience. You'll probably get a lot of responses saying "Just go and buy the damn GTO", but you'll also get a lot of level-headed replys with good information and insight. In the end, especially after driving both cars, you'll most likely just go and buy the damn GTO.
