I have been looking at this '77 Black, T-Top, chrome engine, SE, 4 speed Trans Am with 21K miles on it for two months and finally I couldn't stand it, it's in my garage. Whew!

Got it home this afternoon and cleaned it up but it will need quite a bit of help. Paint is wore out, decals have been washed and waxed to death. One T-top leaks a little etc, etc.

What is the best set of decals to put on? Phoenix ultimate set?

The speedo needle shakes a lot sometimes. Mainly at lower speeds. The volt meter shakes with it.

Handles great. At 4500 RPM in 4th the speedo is way past buried but it is only a 100mph gauge.

I intend to bring this car back to perfect and then maybe Barrett/Jackson in Phoenix unless someone offers me an obscene amount of cash in the meantime.

I would appreciate any and all help with this project and it will probably take quite a bit of technical help.

Thanks

It's the 21K actual miles that holds me back from the engine mods. I really need a good decal set and the best way to seal up the T-Top.

This car needs to be an original for a collector. I think this has all the options to be a real, from the factory, bandit car with very low miles.

I've used Phoenix Graphix decals on two cars, been very happy with the result. A friend just did his car - again with PG decals - turned out great.
With the speedometer, disconnect the cable, remove the inner drive and clean it then lube the inner before reassembly....that should help.

I second Phoenix Graphix. Your car will require the special/bandit edition pinstripe package in addition to the bird/name decal package. Also, make sure to buy two bottles of their decal aplication gel, you'll need it all to do it correctly with no air bubbles.

I am amazed that the paint and dedals are that far gone with only 21k on it.
Chrome Engine??? Does not sound too original.

Yeah, sounds kinda fishy to me too. I guess its possible that it sat outside all its life in the sun. But most folks who keep a car that long without driving it dont have it sitting outside. Probably 121,000

Phenix makes a great product, but they are expensive. Try this guy. Its what I got, and it is an exact GM replica. Very good product, and about 200 dollars cheaper than Phenix
