Someone explain something to me....

What is the difference between a GM turbo 350, a turbo 400 and a powerglide transmission. Assuming they are to be mounted to a SBC.

The powerglide is a 2 speed tranny, the 350 is a 3 speed tranny and the 400 is a stronger 3 speed tranny.

Well, you figure a well built powerglide, is an awesome bracket racing tranny, since you only have one shift point, low to drive. I had one in my 65 malibu and used to wind the first gear up to about 60MPH, then chirp to second, and be clear up to 115MPH, which was sadly it's top speed...

TH350 is a standard 3 speed, I have never hurt one, but I have seen many of them fry at the drag strip.

TH400 is a strong 3 speed, that with a kit can be ran pretty dang hard. <I heard if you want to use a line lock, to use a TH400, that a line lock can grenade a TH350, but not sure if it's true, I've never used a line lock>

A line lock is a lock on the brakes, I am assuming that you are referring to a Trans Brake. And yes, I have never seen a Trans brake used on a 350. But in defense of a 350 it saps less horsepower (some say 10-15hp)and is pretty reliable well into the 12s.
