Hello,
First time poster here, hope you folks can help me out. I am looking for a shop in Oregon that you would trust with your Pontiac. I have used the CarTalk recommended shops and have been burned bad. Guys who wrench on mostly newer cars have done some real harm to my Catalina. Currently I need to replace the clutch and have someone who knows what they are doing go over the shift linkage and pedal assembly and make sure everything is right. Idealy the shop would be within 50 miles or so of Dallas (near Salem). Thanks for any leads! |

You might contact Ron Anderson at 360-910-5449. He has a shop in Vancouver and knows Pontiacs inside and out. He has a 4 speed 64 GP himself along with a race car or 2. Should be able to help you out. His shop is in Vancouver, WA.

Thanks to the posters offering club links and an out of state shop. Is there no one on this board who has taken their Pontiac to a shop in Oregon and has good things to say about the experience?

I was going to put up a post about RON ANDERSON!! DO NOT do buisness with the man! He bought parts from me for a few years! Always paid. Was a great customer! Then made a big order and NEVER paid! The guy is a deadbeat and a crook! I call him and he will not answer his phone!! I was at the POCI! I NEVER seen him! Until he pays me I will speak ill of him all I can! If he can't pay his bills I would avoid him!!
Be Cool, Ace PS ....Might I add I have sent him over a dozen letters and several phone mesages! And he has owed for over 2 yrs!! He must have caller ID!!

NOt sure of the shops name, but on SE 122 nd Street in Portland is a Restoration shop with beautiful cars inaide they have done. However, when doing normal restorations, they will not even give any kind of a price range, and two I know who used them ended up getting really cleaned out. Not just high, but down right robbery. They have some of the big dollar Mopars they do, but also get enormaus amounts of money for their work. One guy took in two pieces of window molding just to be polished, not retored. It cost him $375.00, and I had mine restored and polished for $125.00 by a local Portland guy. BUt then, I bought my parts from Bob V I believe so they were already real decent. Thanks Bob !! Mike.

Don't need a high-end restoration shop. Just a decent place to have some work on my car done that has some old guys who know how to wrench on old american iron.
