poa valve
I am rebuilding the air conditioning system in my 67 and cant find a new poa valve. Does this valve have anything inside that wears out ? Can I just clean it up and reuse it ?

Off-topic, Bill, but are you from Houston?
Many years ago I knew a Bill Kinney who lived on the west side, near the Memorial Drive and Kirkwood area. On-topic, rarely see outright failures on POA valves, but they are easily clogged up. You might try checking with one of the A/C parts specialists in Hemmings for a replacement if yours is fouled up. Good luck.

I can happily say that I am not from House town..worked around it though. Head east about a hundred miles. I'll try to flush the valve first and go from there.

If you are converting to R134...your POA may need to be recalibrated.

POA replacement....................
Hi Bill,
You might want to consider a POA upgrade kit produced by Old Air. It sells for around $90, and operates the compressor's clutch w/ a pressure switch. I have installed this unit on both of my factory air cars (GP and TA) and I have driven them them cross-country many times in July w/ the air on. I chose to stick w/ R12 as it produces consistently lower discharge temps. than the 134 conversions. Les

The valve does not have anything that wears out. It might get stuck from debris or corrosion. You can test the POA valve and if it works I would use it.

As long as the valve has no parts to wear out I think I'll reuse it. Thank for all your help.
