Default Oil pan interchange

From what I can tell from the forums here, it seems that the same oil pan works for all chassis.
I have a couple of "big car" pans; and I'm able to modify to accept the five-tab rear seal.
Does a '77 Firebird need a different OEM oil pan than the "big cars"?

I'd like to avoid using a windage tray that needs aftermarket main cap studs/bolts to mount it.
What OEM-style windage tray will fit a pan suitable for a '77 Firebird? 3/4??? Full-length???

Thanks, folks.

The pans that came on the birds had a baffle built in to keep the oil in the sump on those better handling TA cars which the big car pans did not have.

And it didn't work all that well. I'm re-baffling mine now.

The pans are all basically the same, mounting-wise.
The scrapers all mount to the engine not the pan.

All the scrapers (factory or factory style) will fit with all the pans.

Some of the aftermarket pans may have a scraper as part of the pan setup.

Yeah, but sometimes there's interference between pan baffles and the windage tray--I had to deal with that on my Chevy. Just didn't want to take for granted that it would work with the Pontiac!

Excellent. Now I just have to locate a windage tray...

Is there a distinct preference for the full tray over the 3/4 tray?

The GM Pontiac parts catalog lists the same replacement part # for all models 76-81.

'76 - '81 never came with a windage tray. Not even the provisions to put one on.

Here's a thread where B-Man showed me his modded pan http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...d.php?t=609229. The baffle I'm building is almost the same.

I have an extra 3/4 tray in great shape. I'm going with the full length tray but only because I have it.
