Default inexpensive muffler choices

whats out there. I have a pypes 2 1/2 xpipe system and need a couple of mufflers. cheap!! Funds are low, not looking for that flowmaster tone. something fairly quite till you get on it. 461 in a trans am with ho manifolds. Car may see 1500 miles a year and will be garaged so i'm not concerned about them being built to last forever.

Summit turbo mufflers I ran on my Firebird had a real nice tone at idle or when driven by. Never annoying in any way. Only time I would say they were loud is at WOT. Not a bad muffler really. I had them several years maybe 15000 miles. Were in fine shape when I sold the car.

I had flow masters on the car with headers and it was LOUD!

Swapped those for Thrush welded. Nice muffler but still loud. Swapped back to exhaust manifolds and went to Thursh Turbo's. Sounds nice at idle. More quiet and has a great tone under WOT.

Worth the $$ IMHO.

dynomax superturbos would be a good option for low cost, their pretty quiet and flow decent as well.

There are lots of companies making Magnaflow copies now. Flo Pro Max is one. Basically does exactly as you asked. Fairly quiet at idle but get loud at WOT.

6T7goat,
I have what you need and cheap. I have a flowmaster crossflow muffler you can have. it did well behind my 462 in my 78 TA and again well in my wifes 69 firebird. I think I even still have the tail pipe to go with it. It wasnt to loud and had a nice grumble when you got on it. You can have for free and I live off San Jose blvd in Fruit Cove area. You just need to pick up.
PM me for an address if your interested.

Doc, thank you for the offer. Unfortunantly I am not running a crossflow system or I would be on it like white on rice. Good to see someone else from NE Florida here!!
