Default Rear Valance

My 72 Lemans Sport is missing the rear valance and I’d like to replace it. Does anyone have experience with the reproductions available? I know it came from the factory with a plastic valance, but I was leaning towards using a steel reproduction, has anyone one used either the plastic or steel?

Thanks,

Neil

I am also interested as I have a 70 GTO that will be in need of one. I've tried to buy used/NOS ones in good shape but they want way too much $$$ for them. I do not want a plastic one.

The repop GTO one has the cutouts, and I used one, fit well. The 'regular' LeMans has no cutouts, and I haven't seen a repop of those, but haven't been looking either.

I had the OE one painted along with the one with cutouts, not going to use it, guess I could sell it. Have to dig it up, pretty sure I still have it. Steel.

Last year at Norwalk I bought an NOS rear valance with cutouts for my 70 GTO. At the PY sales area, I did a thorough comparison to the reproduction valance. I would say that the repro part appeared to be excellent. Obviously, can't comment on the fit but with an NOS in one hand and the repro in the other, it was difficult to tell them apart.
Regards,
Steve

The Parts Place was the entity that introduced the repro '73 rear plastic & the '70-71 LeMans & '70-71 GTO rear metal valances. This one on the very few items they repro, I'd use. Like Steve, I've examined the metal repro, comparing with an nos valance I have for my GT-37. Have also had several customers who've installed the metal repro '70-71 GTO cutout valance & had no issues.

Thanks for all of the replies.

I assume the one that PY carries is the Parts Place repo? I think will order the 72 metal without cut outs and try and make it to the PY open house and pick it with some other odds and ends that I need.

Thanks again for the help.

Neil

I bought one from them - no issues here... have you been to their open house?
