Default Everyone has a price

I was just thinking today. If someone wanted your car and had cash. How much would you let it go for?

I would let the 67 GTO go for $25000. (9 sec street car).
The 72 lemans for $18000 (11.9 street car)
The 78 vet for $10000 (stock)

I would let your 67 GTO go for $23K, your 72 Lemans for $17K and you 78 Vette for $9K. Oh, wait, that's not what you're asking. LOL

In all seriousness someone would have to pay me 25% more than what I could put it up for sale at.

Hmmm...if you take into account my labor over the years at the going, I would need to get $575,000.00 to breakeven.

It would take ridiculous money to part with mine. I would have to get nearly twice the market value just to break even on the cash outlay and I would be giving the 1,300+ hours of labor away.

Its true most muscle cars can be bought w this formula. 25% above going rate.

Now imagine you bought a guys hemi cuda or SD455 or RAII in the eighties or 90s w this formula. Youd still be one happy SOB today that you did it.

Assuming my 70 is worth $20,000 I would NOT sell it for $30,000 or 50% more than its value.
I would have to be on the verge of loosing everything to sell my 69, even then it might not go.

I'd probably let mine go for that too. It would make for a good chunk towards a nice convertible 4 speed car.

Someone asked me the other day if I would sell my car. He was looking for a Trans Am and I said sure you can buy it 35k. I figure I have about 12k in the car so really 25k would buy it in hard times but since I do not need the money right now 35k seems right.

I would have to get at least what I have into it and that's never going to happen. That means my car and I will be together hopefully for a long time.

I'd sell my 68 for $12k right now.

Would probably take a little less, as there are a handful of things to do to make it right.

I'm kinda bummed that I saw this thread and thought about it. LOL!

My most prized possession is my time. Once I have my car fixed, it'll take $85K to buy it. A little bit of money to replace it, and a lot of money to replace the time I've spent on it/shopping for a new one.

I already have the two GTO's I want, so no reason to sell them. I have no real money in them (paid $1200 for the '65 and $1800 for the '67 30+ years ago) and don't need the money they'd sell for. Sure, if was offered 100k apiece, I'd sell them and buy the same years/options back, only much nicer, but I'm happy with what I've got: two reliable solid driver quality goats. I've had a show quality car before, and I was afraid to drive it so I sold it.
