How do you organize receipts & pics ?
30 yrs ago I started using a notebook pad
and listed dates, parts, and put the receipts in a folder. I'm the fourth owner, the guy I bought it from handed over his receipts to me when I bought it. In as many years I haven't kept the notebook up to date. But . . . I have a LOT of receipts. Seat covers, engine rebuilds, carpet, stereo repairs, tires, paint job, another engine rebuild, RA III headers, couple of exhaust systems, packard oe sockets and plugs, A/C compresor, Ball joints, springs, posi rear end, window sticker repop, owners manual, courtesy lights, trunk release, trunk light, all rubber seals, deluxe seatbelts, heater deflector used with console mounted 8 track, couple of starters, larger alternator, GM flex fan, upgraded GM radiator, 2-3 sets of tires (dry rotted) . That's only part of the stuff I have receipts for. My folder is complete, but a disaster. I KNOW I'm not the only one with this problem. And your solution to this has been ??? Hire a book keeper |

An accordion folder with categories of your choice and receipts in chronological order would be easy and cost effective. One or two folders for each car should do it. You can do the same thing digitally if you make the time to scan each receipt/picture..
If you're recording the details of each receipt on a notepad, seek medical attention. But if you really have to do it, a spreadsheet would be better. |

Oh, I'm bad for that one too. All I can say is most of mine are in the house here somewhere, lol. I will be sure to follow this thread tho. I'm real sure that some great info is going to show up.

Manila folder for all of the receipts & documents for that particular car, file drawer in office.
Folder on my computer, by car, for all of the pictures.

I did the Manila Folder deal for years.
Now I have a scanner in the house so I scan the new receipts and then copy and past them to an Excel Grid File that I created. Made the row height "30", made the width "40" for each square, and numbered the rows/columns/ picture grid. So a file might have 200 picture grids in a excel tab with the tab labeled Suspension. In that file will be all of the internet pics of similar parts, where the website was that I bought the parts, cost of the parts, and any new info from members on the parts: PY Posts. You can do that for every area of the vehicle project. Engine/Tri-Power/ Holley Carb/ Camshaft/ Lifters/ And for each of those parts you bought or sold you can scan a receipt or a shipping notice/e-mail copy with where the part went. Only problem is going back on all of the old stuff you bought and did not file before you came up with "The System" My computer has automatic back-up with an external server so at most I might be without the latest data for 3 days. if by organize you mean massive pile of papers in in cupboard in the garage, then yeah, my organization system works great

I use the accordion file method for receipts and archival materials for 35mm photos and CD's/flashdrives for digital photos.
My "oldtimers disease" impairs my ability to use spreadsheets.

This is working for me. I have the PHS and all the receipts in here. Of course, I've only had this car for 6 months and still have tons of stuff to do but this helps. I've taken pictures as I repair or replace. Once I'm done, I'll add the pictures to this book!

I have a large 3 ring binder for each of my cars, 2 are overflowing and I already weeded through and tossed stuff that was 3 rebuilds ago.
