Default Tire and Rim size for a 71 Lemans Sport Convertible

I have a stock 71 with 14 x 6" Rally II rims but would like to go a little larger. Any advice on WheelVintiques rims? How big can I go with out need for modifications? The manual lists a 15 x 7" factory rim. Thanks.

From past posts, the convertibles have a tough time clearing bigger wheels or tires, due to their flat upper wheel well for the top to fold down. I was going to go bigger and just went stock for no issues. Plus, my speedo will be accurate.

Not sure if this helps but I have 17x8’s on my 68 convertible, I am pretty sure I have 245’s on it. .

I know 70’s are probably different though. On my 70 hard top I have 275’s on 17 x 9’s all the way around

I have had a full set of 15x8 Corvette Rallys on my car. Also had a set of 15x7 and 15x8 AR Torque Thrust D wheels. Both the rallys and the Torque Thrust D's had the same size tires...

I have Wheel Vintiques 15 x 7 rims on my '72 LeMans Sport vert with 275/60/15 on the rear and 245/60/15 on the front, they look good and work well.

Sounds like a good candidate for the US Mag Bandit wheels:

Just to say, you can "plus size" the wheel, and by picking a shorter tire, maintain the original outer diameter, so technically, the tire won't be 'bigger'.

Primer on Plus Sizing:
