What exhaust did the Comp TA come with? I love the sound of a TOTL exhaust with no cats- very, very raspy and aggressive. I assume the Comp had something different because the TA rear bumper had exhaust cutouts
I am pretty sure the convertible had the suspension upgrades. It’s been a while since I’ve been under it (it’s at my dads in Dayton) but I remember seeing bracing that my other cars don’t have. It drove as tight as my 99 WS6 once it got the 17’s and decent tires. |

Good question. I don't think Comps got any exhaust modifications aside from the Comp T/A exhaust tips, which became the WS6 tips in '96. As far as I know they didn't offer TOTL as an option on them like they did on Firehawks.
mmarx has the Comp all cleaned up and ready to go. Transport is scheduled for the end of the week. Hopefully I'll see it around the 20th or so. Looking forward to rowing the gears!

I saw a silver 4th Gen camaro today and was thinking to myself how much better the silver has aged than the pewter color. It was cool when it came out but almost 30 yrs later I’ve seen too many beat up pewter trucks. The silver still looks very modern.

I got a 2000 ram air convertible here with 11250 miles that up until a month or so ago I felt was worth 24 grand. I bought it new and never realized how the market value has changed

I assume folks like me who always wanted one of these things, but weren't in a spot to pick them up when new, are starting to chase them down now. Same thing happened with '60's Pontiacs in the late 80's and early 90's.
It's crazy to think this '95 is older than my '68 was when I got it. What's funny is my wife was all good with this purchase because it's a "newer" car. No one say anything to her

I was at my dads after Norwalk this weekend and we put a dash cover on the 97 Formula WS6 (fit great and can’t tell it’s there). Car fires right up, doesn’t leak any fluids and feels like a mid- low 13 second car. Not sure why but this car feels faster than any other LT car I have and it’s bone stock. Almost as if someone put 3.73’s in it or something.
Here are some pics of it blending in….. |

For the same money you can buy a 5th gen Camaro like a 2010, 2011
or 2012 which has a real metal body instead of cheap plastic, much higher quality leather seats, door panels that will never ever crack, and an extra 100 horsepower under the hood with the LS 3 engine. I own two of them.....a 2010 V6 hardtop and a 2011 Indy Pace Car Camaro convertible with the LS3. I bought a new 2001 Sunset Orange T/A and sold it 4 years later when the driver's door panel cracked. I paid 900.00 for a new door panel from the dealer and sold the car as soon as I put it on. Boy was I pissed......now we know that the glue holding on the roof bleeds into the roof paint and ruins it. In 11 years and 100,000 miles my 2010 Camaro has needed one right rear tail light bulb and that's it other than tires and oil changes.....and the interior still looks new and no cracked door panels. |

This would be a decent post to kick off your own thread: “Why you should buy a 5th gen Camaro instead of a 4th gen TA”

I’ve driven a 5th Gen- just not the same as a 4th Gen to me. I do agree that they are more reliable and probably wear better- but they aren’t light on their feet by any means.

To each their own. Of course the 5th gen is a better car - the platform is nearly 20 years newer and it's a completely different car in every way. Undoubtedly more powerful, solid and reliable. Compare any car from the 90's to one from the 2010s and I think you'd find the same.
However, if we all based our purchases purely on quality and reliability, I'd have never bought my GTO The Comp was loaded up on Friday and is on its way. Should be here Thursday or Friday. Much appreciation to Mike for being awesome with status updates and communications throughout this whole process.

It's here and it's fabulous. Some minor speed bumps with the transport company, but we got it all smoothed out and they arrived early and for the quoted price.
Couldn't be more pleased with the condition of the car. It's immaculate and every bit a 16k car. It came with a truck load of documentation too.

Took it out for a spin tonight with the kids. It's a big hit with them, so I'm on duty for school drop off tomorrow. Feel great to drive a manual again. I really like the Hurst shifter in it. I haven't seen the 1-4 shift light or lock out so I'm wondering if someone had it tuned at some point.
Our 92 year old neighbor came by this afternoon while we were tinkering on it in the driveway. She fell in love with it! Loved the hood and the stripes. She has a newer Mercedes she babies so she clearly has a soft spot for cars. I pulled the cover back to show her the '68 in the garage and it turns out her husband had a GTO back in the day. Off to get it smogged and registered tomorrow. Hopefully I've got all the paperwork in order.

Ken - I'm glad it all worked out and you're happy with the car; she's a sweetheart! I also noticed the lack of skip shift but I do know the previous owner didn't put a tune on the car, not sure there. Wheels/tires should be there early next week.
