Elmer's Graveyard Tour
Went over the Fountain City, WI yesterday to participate in the Elmer's Graveyard tour.
Elmer's is a salvage yard that recently held an auction of Elmer's private collection of cars back in September. The collection was very eclectic - Elmer had a Model A in his family room and everything from a Plymouth Superbird, a '69 Trans AM, a Royal Bobcat GTO and a Rolls Royce. Most of the cars were very low mileage. I'd been through the museum 3 times. Previously, about 25 years ago, I walked part of the older section with Elmer and his son Brad looking for 16" factory rims for my '49 Caddy limo. Parts on my GTO came from Elmer's. Thought I'd share a few of the photos I took yesterday. |

Do they still sell parts? That 62 Catalina hood looked to be in good condition. Would have to see the underside.

It seems like there is a good of treasure left. Was the guy expensive or difficult to deal with? Funny that I had never heard about that yard.

If he was closer to Virginia, I'd wonder if that 62 was the one I owned. It looks like it might have or had a black painted top, as did mine, a tripower 4-speed car. Had it in the early 70's when in the Navy. Had to take it to a local junk yard (long story). Pulled the engine and trans before taking to junk yard, parted it out over the years but still have the block!
