My friend recently bought this twin turbo '72 Firebird. Is mostly done, just have to finish the interior. It's super nice, 461 twin turbo, motor was done by Butler, 3" oval exhaust, 6 speed trans, 9" rear. He wants to lose the bulky seats, supposedly out of a Bentley , and install new door panels and carpet, headliner. Needs some touch ups on the dash.
It has Ram Air manifolds for exhaust, how much you think that is killing the power or not on a turbo set up?
He adds this to his collection, others include a

67 GTO
78 Trans Am.

Absolutely zero. Log manifolds on LS stuff will go 1000hp all day with pretty good EMAP. Just make sure you give priority to the wastegate and size it right - mine is on the passenger side crossover right on the corner of the bend and it handles the boost easily in a 3port configuration to the bottom port on the gate. I found with my turbo car with the stock manifold + log manifold, ceramic coating + wrapping the log manifold was the best for heat management and keeping the sparks inside the wires

X2 I run log manifolds with a 2 1/4 hotside and it works fine. For the street manifolds are fine plus they don't leak. The largest restriction to flow is in the turbine housing. You can put a large of a pipe as you want in front of a restriction, and it doesn't help anything.

Thanks for the input! Really making me rethink doing a turbo build, other than starting from scratch it's so tempting. So much potential.

I was a big cube NA guy for years and went to the dark side a few years ago. It's the most fun you can have wearing pants
