It looks low enough with the sway bar removed that regardless of tire rub, it's going to allow for much more frequent exhaust contact with the ground. May not have happened yet, but it will unless it's returned to a more normal ride height.

Odd that it changed like that overnight. Did you change the length of the sway bar links? That can change the static ride height a bit but what you are showing is extreme. It looks like you went from stock to 3" dropped springs. You may have to change out those springs or reinstall the urethane spacers in the lower control arms if you pulled them out initially.

I am putting the swaybar back on this week and see what happens. If that doesn’t fix I will look at taller springs.

Not sure if anybody has mentioned this, it’s very easy to put the sway bar in upside down. I realized this when putting a new bar on my 71 GTO. I believe the 64 is the same bar?

All you need is like an 1", a 1/2" spacer painted black on the lower control arm is almost invisible. But your call obviously.

Please state what kind of lower control arm bushings you have, for everyone's info.

It has the polyurethane bushings that came in the control arms. I thought using a spacer would increase spring rate

Ok, poly, than is didn't hang up if you tightened them in the air, unless you over-tightened and didn't lube the face of bushing that is on the frame side.

Nope, on a linear spring, the rate shouldn't change as it compresses. Shouldn't. If it's not properly made, it 'could', but still not likely. Only 'progressive' springs increase rate as they compress.

The amount it could potentially change is nominal, fraction of total rate, and that would be from 'accepted' tolerance. Even so, not enough to worry about.

Swaybar returned 3/4 of an inch to ride height. Doesn’t sound like much but improved the looks and eliminated the scrub.

Wait, you're saying by putting a sway bar on the ride height increased by 3/4" ?

Maybe I'm not understanding?

Did the car sit perfectly level, side to side, with the bar off. It occurred to me that one spring could not be seated all the way. Maybe both. If so, The bar could be leveling the difference and pulling the low side up. Just a theory.

It's gotta be the wrong bar then, too narrow or something, ride height shouldn't change at all by putting a sway bar on.

Where did you get the sway bar?

Does your bar have adjustable end links?

It is the Hotchkiss swaybar that was on the car when I got it.

In theory the bar shouldn't add any wheel rate or ride height when the vehicle is not in motion. However, because each side of the car will weigh slightly different, especially taking cross-weight into account, one side will always be twisting against the other side.

While I do think that 3/4" of rise from the sway bar is excessive...and may yet point to an issue, it's not unheard of to have a sway bar raise a static ride height by a bit.

Having ran dirt track cars for many years and running large front sway bars on them you can get a ride height gain if the sway bar links are different lengths. To pre load the sway bar on an oval track car I used a 1 1/4 inch longer link on the right front than on the left front, and yes, the RF would gain ride height after the links were connected, just confirming the links are the same length may be the OPs cause of this gain in ride height.

On an oval track car the preload is used to make the bar more responsive by putting twist in it at a stationary stance.

Does it turn in evenly in both directions? If turn in is much more abrupt and much sharper in one direction you probably have a lot of cross weight in the car which may be contributing here.

If it drives pretty neutral, has near equal turn in to each direction and isn't doing anything that makes you uncomfortable, I'd probably let sleeping dogs lie.
