Struggling with 1975 Firebird power steering and alternator configuration
5 Attachment(s)
I am restoring a 1975 Firebird Formula and unfortunately didn't remove the accessories myself. I also have multiple brackets. This is an A/C car that I believe has the 80amp alternator. I know the brackets on the power steering pump are the original, but cannot find any good pictures online, or diagrams to show which brackets to use and how everything mounts. I'm hoping someone here can assist with info and maybe take a quick picture or two of their setups for me if they are also using this power steering setup. Thanks in advance -B

Alternator/bracket is not an 80 amp set up.

last time i saw an 80 amp in person in my driveway was 30 years ago so i was hesitant to post i didnt think he has an 80 set up... the 80 that i had the alt was non adjustable used the small idle pulley to tension belt

I am going to attach some pics of a 1973 Firebird accessory layout. I do not know for sure if this is the same as a 1975. This is a non-AC car, but PS and ALT may be the same? Not an 80 amp Alt. Hope this helps.

That look similar to my 74 setup with A/C and 80amp...unfortunately she is in storage or I could get a snap

Looks like my 78 setup .

Was collecting pictures to reference when assembling my 74. This is probably the most clear.

So I was missing the correct bracket that goes on the water pump. I just ordered it on Ebay. Thank you all for your help. Hopefully when it arrives, I can get this thing bolted up and then fired up. This is a father, daughter, and grandfather project with my 13yr old daughter. We are very close to sending off for finishing body work and paint.

So further 80 amp discussion... the 80 alt housing is unique isnt it slightly bigger than others in the day?
|
12SI alt, yes bigger than a 10SI, which was probably the norm in those years.
