I did this... The piston holds the solvent, but it very slowly drains into the engine. #6 didn't drain anything at all.

Lifters seem ok.

Yes. When you turn it over at the crank #8 goes up and down like all the other pistons.

I haven't pulled the lifters yet... I'll do that tomorrow.

Rocker studs looked ok. Didn't check...

I filled the chamber with thinner tonight and it seemed to hold ok... you could hear a drip every 3-4 seconds. Is that enough of a leak to cause my issue?

The discoloration is very smooth and I don't feel any pitting at all when I rub my fingers over it. Maybe the head gasket and the valves aren't sealing properly. I am going to work on those two...

I am not sure what the discoloration is. I was wondering the same thing myself.

I wouldn't bet my life on it, but I was pretty sure all the hissing I heard was coming from the crank case.

Any tips on getting the exhaust manifolds off??? The bolts to don't seem to be any particular size. The only thing I can get on their firm is a 14mm and I HIGHLY doubt that is the actual size. ...
