CRUISE CONTROL QUESTION

This may sound like a dumb question...but here goes:
My dad says that using the cruise control to actually drive the car does no damage whatsover to the car, and he suggests you get better gas...

6 plugs are pretty easy...the other 2 are HARD!!!!
Will it run any smoother with the correct gap? What will a smaller gap do different than if it were set correctly???
