the throttle cables i've found here and on other sites for my '67 GTO all seem to have holes in the end for attaching them to the carb. i guess this is for a screw or some sort of pin to go through....

1649 is for aluminum and 1649CI is for cast iron....
1649 is for aluminum and 1649CI is for cast iron. both will work for your 455.

imo all paints will eventually wear off or rust through. i know of guys that have had their headers "jet coated" and they maintain a shiny almost polished aluminum look.
