Don't think I agree with that - You can still have a lean idle with a big cam. You are correct that very rich conditions will dilute the oil, but a rich idle isn't a given parameter of a tight lobed cam with a large overlap. I'm sure that there are a bunch of engines out there that fall all over themselves because of a lousy tune, but they also really sound unhealthy. A true ground pounder tuned correctly creates vibrations clear into your soul.
