"Rule of thumb", .001" of clearance for every 1" of journal (mains). For rods, we've found the Pontiuac to "like" .003. They live. What else can I say?
We "mock up" the main tunnel and measure it. If "round and straight", not a problem. We've seen VERY few blocks needing align-honing after stud installation. Pontiacs are a little "better done" than Chevys. It's "standard procedure" to do this to a Chevy. Sarge, Where did you buy that crank? I've only had three of the forgings through here, but all were dead-on size. Have another on order. We buy them from a reputable warehouse that sells the entire Eagle "line". It may not matter, "where", but it does with some Edelbrock stuff, so it's worth the question. Jim |
