My first GTO was a 2bbl (I was not exactly on the ball, I only noticed it had a 2bbl when I got her home). It was a low option hardtop; Warwick blue, parchment bench with only p.s. and an AM radio.
When I got it it was painted CR with judge stickers but no stripes or wing. It was a s***box but I must admit in normal city driving it had nicer initial response than a 4bbl car with the same 2.93 gears would have had. I believe that many of the 2bbl cars ended up in rental car fleets.
