Default Winter oil recommendations

I plan on firing my car up on occasion this winter. We get some very nice days where the radiant heat keeps you warm in the car and we get very little snow normally (7" of total precipitation/yr). I was thinking of using a 0W-40 for the winter so it will get oil up in the engine quick at cold temperatures. Anyone ever use the stuff or have any comments one way or the other on that weight range?

Thanks,
