If you have an original shifter porch (doghouse) it will only fit perfectly in ONE spot, the right spot. Trace around it at that spot, and cut the hole about an inch and a half smaller inside diameter, so you have a lip to screw the porch onto. I helped a friend on the forum years ago convert his '66 to a 4 speed, and this is how we did it. Took minutes with a cut-off wheel in a small die grinder to do a factory job.
