I believe that in most cases, BaT writes the vehicle description. Consignors with many sales on BaT may be afforded the ability to write their own description. Undoubtedly the BaT description will not include features, condition specifics, vehicle history etc., that you consider as important.
Have several comments pre-drafted, ready to be posted, once your auction goes live. Here is your chance to include features, condition specifics, vehicle history etc. Be clear and be able to prove if the original engine and transmission are in the car. Be clear about the vehicle mileage and be able to back this up with paperwork, receipts, Carfax, etc. BaT hedges on details like original powertrain and mileage. You’ll see cars listed with ‘equipped with a 400 cu. In. engine’, or ‘46,000 miles shown, TMU’. I think their lawyers do not want BaT to be accused of misrepresentation. It will be up to you to represent and back up these details with proof. Have new pictures, videos ready to be added to your listing at-the-ready. Remember, every time the seller (you) posts a picture or video, every potential buyer who has added your auction to their BaT Watchlist will get a new email regarding your auction. There are too many tire kickers in the BaT comment gallery, people with a history of asking questions, but who have never placed a bid nor listed a car for sale on BaT. You have to be the judge on how much attention to give to them. There are also some extremely knowledgeable commenters. I find them most helpful, and they very rarely disparage a listed vehicle. Voluminous high-quality pictures are a must. Be transparent in photographing any flaws.
