Met him and sold him a short block for another car (I'm a bit envious since he is building multiple cool cars and I can't even finish one), but he seems like a genuinely nice guy, in person.

He's been very successful with his E-heads. I don't think that's the issue.

He act's like he does. Nice of you to stick up for him. I don't know him. I watched him badger Slowbird and now he's started with me.

I'm badgering you huh? And I badgered slowbird? Poor guys. So its badgering when someone presents an opinion of their own, or information that isn't opinion, but doesn't match yours.

However, when you guys do it its called just asking questions and getting facts straight?

My whole point has been to stop the badgering. The real badgering. Its one thing to say, EHTTFMF, its another to insult people, or bash something they've done/made. I'm just saying that in general. Its not necessary to point fingers.

Thats the Yellow Bullet way, and I'm suggesting it doesn't need to be ours.

Yes, Slick is correct. I have a turbo car that made some good hp with a set of E-heads. Not in the 1400-1500 range, but had I turned up the boost it could have. And then I could have hauled it home in a few buckets. lol

You don't have to have pity for us with your badgering. I can take it and I'm sure Slowbird can. You shouldn't put words in other people's mouth. Example you stated I never gave TTB Bill any respect. I believe you are wrong. The truth of the matter is he mocked my work and then when called out he couldn't back it up. Maybe you should read posts a couple of times and comprehend them before making a comment. Let me know if it would help you if I typed real slow.

Actually I think you need to reread perhaps. I won't type slow, but it is there for you to read several times if that's what it takes. I did not mention your name in the larger post above. The only specific reference I made to you in fact, was the one about John Marcella, since you're the one who stated he's never been wrong.

If you took what I said in there to be directed at you, its either a guilty conscience or you did not read it carefully.

I did mention you in the smaller post below it, and slowbird too, but just about the badgering thing. "I watched him badger Slowbird and now he's started with me." seems a little sensitive.

Again, and I'll repeat it. My point is not to badger anyone. Just stating it would be nice if the CV-1 bashing...ok, lets call it badgering...would stop. Let the head stand or fail on its own merits, but give it some more time.

I'm confused you didn't mention me and then you dId mention me.

You have yet to explain when I disrespected TTB? But since you're so much into the truth maybe you can call him out for slamming me with insults that weren't true.

I have a challenge for you, go find a post on this website where I said something not true about the CV1 head.

That should keep you busy for a while.

While you're at it you can find the the guys that did lie about the CV1....and jump all over them.

What you have is a group that have been stroking each other as they all have posted the same lines of BS.

There has only been a few that questioned them so they have been very comfortable.

Lately the number of people questioning them has increased and they are getting very uncomfortable and defensive.

I'm not uncomfortable at all. The only thing I'm questioning is the untruths. You might not be comfortable, I've asked you atleast twice about your Pontiac cars and their accomplishments and yet to get an answer.

Paul,
If you want to insert yourself into a generic group feel free to do so.

What difference does it make what brand or who's vehicles I have worked on?

I know you are just looking for a reason to pound your chest and say look at what I do, so just go ahead. I sure hope that it makes you feel better.

I am in a generic group. I perfer to deal with truth. You claimed you did but it's becoming clear you only like the truths that support your beliefs.

Sorry about getting the HP numbers wrong, we talked about lots of stuff, I was trying to absorb it all and my feeble old brain must have moved some numbers around.

I could be off base, but I think that the CV-1 objections can boil down to a few points:

1) Early promoters bragging about the head's capabilities. Standards which apparently were not met. I wasn't reading those posts back then, but repeated posts suggesting that was the case have made it plain.

2) The head has canted valves unlike any traditional factory Pontiac cylinder head. The inline valves are a key feature of the Pontiac V8, and deprting from this design feature leads many to say that it's then no longer a Pontiac, but a hideous breed (hybrid).

To that point, I think if the head to be accepted as a Pontiac head option, it had better outperform all inline heads. Period. If not, then what's the point of giving up an original design feature, one frequently used as a reason (an excuse?) for Pontiac engines not performing as well as hemispherical headed and canted valve engines of the competition. We give up that underdog point without unquestioned superiority over the E-head, Tiger, HP, Wenzler, etc.

3) The head will not accept a traditional Pontiac valve cover. Don't dismiss this point. A lot of guys need a Pontiac engine to have the traditional Pontiac engine look.

4) As John Marcella has frequently pointed out, basic design architecture could have been done differently. Personally, I have no idea, but Marcella knows his trade very well and continually proves it. Had his ideas been incorporated in the design, who knows, maybe the head would show the utter dominance that was hoped for by the inventor.

5) The willingness to go down into the gutter and argue with the head's detractors, by the head's promoters. I don't care how skilled, or intelligent you are. When you reply the way you do, and so repeatedly, it makes one wonder, do you not know how petty you sound, and "shouldn't you be doing something productive?

Is it possible to simply accept this, move on and produce some awesome performance parts for the rest of us?

im not aware of any other strait valve head that has made almost 1100hp n/a on a 13:1cr nitrous build

umm,
you could say the same thing of the detractors.. or do you feel they should get a pass to make any claim they want? not trying to be a smart ass, really want to know as i havent seen you scold them

i remember calvin said some guys came by his display at norwalk few years back and, while looking at his cv-1's, said "these look really nice... but isnt there supposed to be something wrong with them?"
i know john marcella is hitting the 'quote' button right now- lol.. that depends on what the intended goals of the design were- his are different. the goals were to provide a cheaper alternative to a wide port ehead without sacrificing power, which dick fultons dyno comparison proved- his 'as cast' cv-1's produced 30 more hp than his wide port eheads.. same motor, same dyno.
second was that there would be more potential in the design. although dicks 1096hp nitrous motor is the only example thus far, were are working on others. we do this as time and $ permit.

timewarp is unfortunately correct- the internet is a powerful tool to the negative or positive. lets say someone were to run around posting "CV-1's cant make 1000HP" for years, and suggest it was because the design was f'ed up... how many interested buyers looking for real info would read that and decide that- true or not- the purchase wasnt worth the risk?

ive tried not to post here, but slick's post brought up some valid points that i felt needed addressing.
