As long as we are on the subject, what head is better for a reliable 600-700HP street/strip car, the Edelbrock or KRE's if they are both flowing close to the same CFM? Is one easier to buy at a medium level and then step up later with additional port work and cam change.

I would say the D ports are more in line with my budget as long as I could get the 455 into a 600-700 HP range and still have the option of stretching them out some down the road as far as streetable flow. From my limited understanding having a crazy high flowing head is not necessarily the best head to run on the street with a gear like a 3.55 and a mild 3000 stall converter. Power in the mid range seems to me to be as or more important for a car that will be mostly a street car but also raced some on the weekends.
