Just attribute it to me reading/hearing a statement that was only partially accurate. Hey, all my race cars turned corners, I'm obviously not a dyed in the wool drag racer.

No worries, I am not a Drag Racer either. But I did spend a lot of time with Marty, Mary, and Tom Earhart when they raced the Pontiac engine Twin Turbo car as a support person.
By the way, Mary's Twin Turbo 71 GTO (Pontiac Engine) still uses the Pontiac EFI intake that Marty, Mary, Tom Earhart, and I designed and built many many years ago.

The Crow is all put together and they're on the way to CA to race Rawlings car. I believe they said the Crow has upsized turbos, 94mm. Other than that it's still got the "Small Block Pontiac" 482.

The Farmbird is done and the freshened up 455 Pontiac dynoed at 507 on gas, but they're adding 2 stages of N2O on top of that.

Mega race is next Mon.

I couldn't figure out why they said they had to make motor mounts, that none existed for that combo.

I'm assuming that was a made for TV moment.

They had what looked like poly mounts, from what I understand they don't always fit well, maybe the problem?

Going back to what someone mentioned a few pages ago...

There is no way they are going to let Rawlings drive that thing at an NHRA track (Fontana?) without the proper license, period!

Now if "they" (the show) has him do the training and all the qualification passes and is granted a pro mod, or advanced ET ticket; and shows it on air, that would be kind of cool actually.

But I seriously doubt that is what we will see next Monday. The Gas Monkey pro stock guy will drive it, and all the arguing about Richard driving will indeed be "made for TV."

Cold be a pre 70 400 stroker block 455 with only the early motor mount provisions, trying to put it in a late chassis. That will give you fits if you never ran into the problem before. First time I ran into it was putting a 69 428 in a 73 F body chassis. I ended up making the adapter plates before they were available from the aftermarket. I first encountered the problem around 1978-79.

After I made my first set I had quite a few locals that I made them up for before Butler and other vendors were selling them.

II know what they did . They used polyurethane inserts for chevy clamshell mounts. They had to cut the tabs off so the Pontiac uppers would fit. Been there .
