I am not sure that is entirely true. Unless something has changed recently, Premium Guard is the 3rd choice product provider for NAPA in their Gold and Platinum series filters. For the Gold filters, Mann/Hummel/WIX is first choice, Champion Brands, is second, and Premium Guard is third. The NAPA "Performer" filters are made by Champion Brands and a few by Premium Guard as well. The thing I DON'T like is you can't tell from the box, what is inside. Same part numbers, many different countries, it's confusing, on purpose. I have NAPA Gold Filters on the shelf from, USA, Vietnam, Germany, China, Brazil, Mexico. I will say, I have not had a problem or issue with any of them.

The last two Napa shows that I worked only had the PG guy in attendance in the booth. After Mann purchased Wix things really went downhill with shipping which is why Napa switched is what I was told, who knows, things change daily with parts so they could be sourcing anywhere. PG is a good brand, I repped them for 4 years with no issues.

For the GTO I buy the Wix branded filters, for my daily drivers I buy the Lexus & Honda filters.

Agree the Premium Guard filters look good inside and out. We have a huge FRAM filter manufacturing plant about 10 miles from my house. Over 400 employees and they are building an addition. They make so many private label oil filters, about 75% of them, I have never heard of. Oil filters must be big, big, business!
