That would be cool. We'll do it. I'm going with a little hotter cam, ported and polished heads, ect..should make a considerable difference. Will look completely stock from the outside. Going with stock exhaust even though it's restrictive compared to other options. My goal is to be as correct as possible without getting retarded which many of you would already claim. Yes, I am sick. My family knows this, and we are all struggling through it.

I have some SD heads that I am getting ready to use or maybe trade. I don't have any other round ports to compare these to so I thought I would ask you SD guys. Here are some pics of my heads I'm wondering if these would be considered ported or just smoothed up. If ported can anybody guess to what degree? Thanks

What about the repro RA manifolds?,or are those only for round ports?

The intakes look untouched, but the exhausts may have been gasket matched. No big deal.
You said "or trade". What might it bee that you might trade for? and yes, I would be interested in buying them too, if I don't have whatever you may trade for.

OK thanks. Pontiac must have done a whole lot better job with their SD head castings as these seem pretty smooth compared to other heads I have.

Ta eric has it. exhaust side has definitely been gasket matched. Intakes are pretty much on the money for stock. On the intakes you might see a bit of core shift offset and or a bit of a gap at that point in the divider between the ports, otherwise they're a nice casting. are these a match set of heads? the one image of the intake does actually look like it has been worked, the second pic looks stock. they may have been gasket matched as well. the SD heads respond nicely to shallowing out the radius on the short turn going down to the chamber.

One head is dated F233 and the other is K282, are there any differences in these castings? Anybody have a set dated like this on their original car or are these too far apart?

Why did you port the heads and put a different cam in it then? Being that I'm going to own that car, you should have consulted with me prior to making any mods!

No physical differences in the castings for all of the SD heads, no matter the date code. I take it these are a pair you picked up along the way, not with an original SD car? (I remember you were selling SD engine/parts awhile back) It's kind of hard to tell from the pics you've posted, but if you look at the exhaust ports, you can see definite porting/grinding marks on the outer portion, deeper inside you can see the original as-cast surface which is a bit "pebbly" appearing. I wouldn't worry about there being much difference porting wise between this pair

The guy I bought these heads from said he got a complete SD motor out the back door of a dealership back in 1974. The engine had spun a bearing or threw a rod so the guy just took everything off and scraped the block. According to him they were on the same engine as delivered from the factory. I have had some SD parts and a couple of engines, but I need some space so something has got to go. I have pretty much decided to restore my 73 back to stock appearing, the 4X's (7H's) I have should flow almost as good as these and I have way less into them.
