Looking for a picture of Rally I with firestone redline wide ovals (Coker) on a Burgandy GTO. I currently have American racing and BFG's I like the look, but want to head back to stock
Thanks Shawn - |

I don't know if this will help or not. When I had my 65 times were good and I was able to run two tire/rim combos. I had RWLs on Torq-Thrust Ds and redlines on Rally 1s.

Here is my 67 with Raised White Letter tires. I have had these Firestones on my car since 1975 or 76. They are G70-14's bias ply. I absolutely love the look, peroid correct in my opinion witht he big solid letter. I personally do not care for raised outlined white letter tires on our 60's cars. The solid letter and a larger font is my choice.

Wow! It helped me: I didn't realize how much I liked the redline/Rally I's until I saw your photo comparison....

I sold the 65 in order to get the 67. The 65 was a clone and the 67 is the real thing. I wish I could have kept both.

I just bought a 67 LeMans with Rally I rims. It currently has white letter tires but they are coming off ASAP! I personally do not like RWL on ANY car pre 69 (when RWL tires came out). I think either black walls or red lines are the way to go. I just received my Cooper brand red lines from Diamond Back Tires yesterday, they should be on the car soon!

You realize that white letter tires look like white walls when you are zipping down the highway?
![]() I never purchased another set after seeing my 4X4 with the RWL tires go by me. All other times I was driving it and only saw it parked. Just something to think about.

Granted, I was just a boy when these cars were new, but I never saw a '66 or '67 "back in the day" that still had its redlines on it. They wore out so fast & or were replaced by bigger tires so soon that they were a very rare sight on the road. When I got my first '66 in 1971, I went for the shined up blackwall look. Anyone remember that blacktop stuff from turtlewax that was like black shoe polish for the tires? I was mad when they stopped making that stuff! I eventually succumbed to the raised white letter craze & now have them on both of my '66 GTOs. It's a shame because I have only a few hundred miles on a set of vintage BFG RWL tires on my show car, but I'm going to have to get "correct" & go with a set of repro redlines before I take the car to a national meet.

But with that being said..... I would think 225/70r14's in front.... 60's might be too short. You want to stay as close to a 26" diameter tire as you can.... In the rear.... I dont know how big 14" tires are available anymore.... you could just match the fronts.... There are a few guys who run 14" Cragars.... they should post soon....
