Getting ready to paint my trunk and complete all the misc. like jack, spare tire etc.
Can anyone tell me where the seam starts and stops for the trunk weatherstripping? |

Clarence,
The paint should be here tomorrow. I called them and they are sending the paint and hardner like we talked about. I have a 2.5 tip too so it should go on nicely I will email you some pics after its done. Thanks for the info on the paint -Dominic |

Not impossible, because I have done it without removing the fender or cutting a hole, BUT you'll wish you had by the time you're done.
It's that one damned bolt at the bottom outside of the box to the firewall that is the Beach. Be very careful with that kick panel to heater box seal if it's still there. Not reproduced and it is a fun thing to try to duplicate. Put a Murray heater core in there from O'Reillys and forget about it. Charles |

Here are the requested pictures of the original trunk seal on my 67 Lemans. If you want larger pics send me your email address to [email protected] & I'll send them to you.
On another subject, I just replaced my heater core. I jacked the car up, loosened the outer fender all the way around. I unbolted the inner fender and was able to turn it toward the outside of the car until it came out of the car. Time consuming but not difficult. I put tape between the door & outer fender to protect both. Wasn't hard to see where the fender bolts had been for the last 45 years & I bolted it back together based on that. heres the pics |

and one more pic of the two painted white lines used to center the seal at the top of the trunk opening to start the installation. My 71 has one white & one orange stripe. I duplicated them on the replacment seal with paint pens..

I painted my trunk yesterday and it came out perfect.
Thanks for the help Clarence. I took your advice and bought the hardener to go with the paint from Zolatone and I used a Sata gun with a 2.5 tip. I put down a coat of black epoxy primer first so it was easier to cover then 2 coats of trunk paint. Its the perfect color dark green with aqua splatter. Looks factory and it wont wash away like the aresol cans you buy and have to clear coat over. This stuff drys hard as nails. Very impressed with this product. |

My GTO is now 99% done.
I just had the glass installed. The interior is installed along with door panels too. I need to do a few odds and ends like geT the correct battery, phosphorus plate the hood hinges, install the hood, do about 10 more things I cant remember and fill it up with gas! The long road of restoring this GTO is just about over. |
