Hold on to that Cutlass or at least keep it in the family. Hard to find in that kind of condition any more and in my opinion, one of the better looking cars from the mid 70's...plus, while it's not a Pontiac, it is in the BOP family.

Love that Cutlass! My uncle had one when I was young, a 76-77, red with a white vinyl top and white interior. Haven't seen a clean example of that bodystyle in a LONG time! I'll be in the Houston area tomorrow, I'll keep an eye out for ya on the road!

Lol I'm glad you guys show some love to the Cutlass. Not a lot of people do. The problem is once I stop DD the car no one will really drive it and it will just most of the time.

I really haven't been able to work on the car much with classes starting again. I am almost finished with it though, except for the motor.
Updates: Crank/Pistons/Rods are installed. Cam is installed and degreed. And I have also installed the fuel tank and removed the old 3/8ths line. Removing the old line was actually a bigger PITA than I thought. I can only imagine the fun that awaits installing the new one... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Updates: Short block is together, I am just waiting on the Cometic head gaskets to finish long block.
I plan to have the car running in a month! Fall finally hit Houston and it was an absolutely gorgeous day today which gave me motivation to finish the car up. ![]()

This month has been busy for me. I have been busy with classes so the only day I get to work on the motor is Wednesday. The body of the car is done except for the fuel line. And the motor will be finished next week!

Looks good. Looks like you're going with a squarebore intake. Torker II maybe?

Yes I am going with a port matched Torker II intake. For anyone that has run this intake, what kind of brackets are needed to make the throttle linkage work for a Holley 870 Street Avenger? I still have the stock bracket.

I've got that intake on my '66. It has a Holley too but to be honest, I have no idea what Holley...at any rate, I'm using the stock bracket and stock throttle cable and it works with no problem.

That's great news. Now I don't have to hassel with aftermarket brackets.

Thanks for the pic Greg, it does help to clear some things up.
I did finish the motor today. So in a couple of weeks, she will be resting in the engine bay again. ![]() Sorry for the crappy picture. I forgot to take my camera again, so I had to make due with my phone.

Got the motor installed last weekend. The only thing left to purchase is a radiator, and some fuel filters/fittings.
Depending on how Christmas treats me, I may have the car running next month. For any of you guys running a Torker II intake; Did you have to modify the AC bracket that bolts to the manifold at all? Mine won't seem to line up, and doesn't clear the valve covers anymore due to the roller rockers. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Nice!!
Just curouse, why wrap the engine in shrink wrap? Is there an advantage? |

The engine was wrapped for the trip from the shop to my house. I simply left the wrap on to maybe avoid any extra scratches that may occur during the install.

Looking really good. At least you will get drive once done. I put about 20 miles on mine before we got snow and salt on the roads.

Thanks! Hopefully I will get it running soon. Classes are about to start up soon though, so my project will most likely go on the backburner again.
My goal is to have the car running by March when spring rolls around again.
