Has anyone here swapped any of their vehicles (daily driver or older Pontiac) to the LED interior light "bulbs". My Tundra is in need of a dome light bulb (39mm festoon) and I was thinking I'd look into swapping it and the other various interior bulbs to LED.
Other than costing somewhat more than regular bulbs, what did you find?

Look at the new Dodge/chysler minivans. They have interior LED lighting. See if you like the way it looks and examine what they look like. That's my best advice before spending a load of $$ just to have LEDs. One last thing, LEDs do not output light in the same manner as an incandescent does. They have a tighter or narrower beam and don't emit light all around like the originals. Good luck!

I replaced the interior lights on my chevy pickup with LEds , get the fesstoon bulbs with the wide angle leds in them , they are brighter than the factory incadesents , I also put ones under the dash to light up the floor . this is whereI buy them Dave , they have a good selrction and prices and there stuff seams to hold up better than the cheapie erape stuff http://www.superbrightleds.com/

There is one thing I've noticed as I've "shopped" around. A HUGE spread in pricing for what appears to be the same thing. Stimpy, I've looked at superbrights site and they SEEM to be reputable. VLed is also a "good" one, but seems expensive. LED's are also available in various colors...and also various tones of "white". I don't care for the BLUE white...something warm like......stock.........

I have night sight problems as I am getting older so I use the blue white and beleive me they are bright , I have the warm ones in the wifes and they are like the old filament light bulbs and have the yellowish ting to them . as for superbright , I was turned onto them by a electronics geek who repairs the led signs , also he told me alot of the cheaper ones you find use substandard materials and will only last maybe a year or too or have color issues ( and returns can be a hassle ) . I have the flat board style leds in the dome lamp as I have map lights in my truck and it fits and looks like a standard bulb in it , I have to get the bulbs for the map lights now as they just started offering the style I need . also being they are in st louis your looking about 2-3 days max on shipping ( mine come overnite since I am in Chicago and I order before 1 pm ) and they ussually call or e-mail if they run out of stock on a item the day of the order , had no problems with them ( on returns or shipping ) and I have order alot of stuff for customers from them ( I ussually don't give away my sources ) .

I ordered a full interior change from Superbright. I went with warm color white LEDs

you'll like it . I pimped mine out and went with blue to match the interior of my truck , withthe interior light delay, I almost caused a few accidents with the nuclear glow ..

My trucks interior is a lighter brownish color. That's the reason I went with 3500K LEDs. I could picture a color above 4000K washing it out. If it were black, blue or gray the "whiter" color LEDs would really work. Tracking info says I'll have them Tuesday.

I have the entire interior in LEDs. Get them from superbrightleds.com as stated above. They are much cooler to the touch, last longer, and you can get them REALLY bright. The color that you pick, is going to be more true. I have blue leds, behind all of the gauges (except the clock) and they look great!!! I also use leds, for the interior high beam indicator and turn indicator.

The license plate lamp is an led and is very bright!! Plus as David Jones says, the white is white, not yellow.

I have the LEDs in the license plate light also , and its brighter than the car following me's headlights , I put them on all my trailers when I had them, as semi trailer plate lights often get broken from bouncing empty and often sources of inspection failures and tickets , my biggest problem was people stealing them at tank washes when the trailer was unattended (the only reason I hate cordless tools ).

as for the colors the warm white is more yellow than blue ( color correct ) , the brite white is bluish hued ,

I put my lights in late yesterday. Total of 10 "bulbs" of 3 different types. 4 map lights, 4 door lights, 1 light under the dash in the drivers footwell and the main overhead light. Quite a difference! Much brighter. Things seem "sharper". First time I opened the door in the complete darkness I broke out in a huge grin. Worth $50 total, including shipping? Probably not, but I like it. The top image is the footwell bulb. The next is the "festoon", main cabin bulb. The bottom one is the door and map light bulb.
