This is on a 67 with 400.
Mine has a drain, but it's a direct fit radiator. Perhaps the universal types are the ones where one needs to check...

269$. Summit does not make a direct fit for the 67 GTO/Tempest. The other thing is that the lower portion of the radiator support is curved. The Griffin fits so well, that I am going with proven fit.

My current rad is most likely clogged. I figured that I am getting an up grade and a new rad. PLus I don't care how careful you are fins get bent etc.. This rad is in rough shape. It is more of a back-up then a primary.

Add the fact that I went from a 2.56 rear to a 3.23 and the added tube size will help.

The difference between the Griffin 25222X and 55222X is huge!

My 25222 in older (2000 maybe) and when I flushed it I could see rust in it. I think that the crude sitting in the overflow and old rad is clogging it. Made sure that it was not oil,,LOL!!

The only thing is that I had the perfect setup with the MKVIII fan. The core on the 55222 is about 1/2 thicker, due to 1.25 cooling tubes. So I need to raise the assy about 1/2" and make new brackets. Hopefully, I wont have to remodify the lower brackets to "lean" the radiator forward a hair. I wish that I could get a picture of what 1" and 1.25" cooling tubes look like. It is huge!!!!

More to come. I plan on making new brackets this week. New coolant with distilled and some water wetter.

Dave

I got a low budget chinese aluminum radiator for my Grand Prix from radiator express dot com. 2 rows, aluminum, direct fit (almost) for $169. It has worked well for a year so far. This radiator is not as pretty as a griffin, but gets the job done.

Be Cool complete kit (67-69 F/B manual trans) for my 1979 Firebird (A/T). I wanted the 67-69 because they are slightly smaller and have the brackets on the side (didn't want to use the stock-type mounts). I don't need the trans cooler because I have a separate B&M plate cooler (that also keeps trans at 155 maximum).

Previously with a 4-core OEM Modine and a Flex-A-Lite 4000cfm dual fan, car would NOT run anything cooler than 220F.

Put the Be Cool setup on (with the 2-11" Spal Fans) and it instantly ran 175-180. On the warmest days (100F ambient), I'll see temps around 184. At night (60F ambient) if I keep the fans on, I can go down to about 161F.

They are certainly not cheap, but for a complete kit, I don't think you could do any better (IMO).

By the way, this is on 11.25:1 440cid 600hp combo.
