Why did you say "cable driven"? I haven't seen that since '57 FI Chevy.

I believe NASCAR is now using cable driven fuel pumps.

The fuel pump is mounted in the back near the fuel cell, driven by a cable.

One less thing to worry about on a "Street Car", Jack, LOL.
Having the fuel pump crap out on you while you are driving to the burger whopper, (on on a Hot Rod Power Tour event!!!) Tom Vaught

Just dropped the car off tonight. He thought it should be done by next Wed. As soon as its back I need to install the windshield and engine/wiring. Had he responded a week sooner the car wounld have made it to norwalk. Of well there always next year. I decided to use a matte black finish, they didnt have any natural brushed aluminum so I settled on black. Hope it turns out ok, I'll post up a few pics next week. |

I'll take some pics when I get home. No cable yet, got to install all the parts, then measure to determine the length.

Valve lash as measured cold a few weeks after delivery. Valve lash cold was set to 0.020 according to both build sheets. What do you guys typically see for before\after lash measurements with new aluminum heads? The engine was on the dyno on two separate occasions.
Even Cylinders Intake Exhaust Odd Cylinders Intake Exhaust 8 0.016 0.009 7 N\A N\A 6 0.013 0.013 5 0.014 0.013 4 0.016 0.016 3 0.016 0.016 2 0.018 0.011 1 0.016 N\A N\A indicates no measurement was taken by me before before disassembly. Below are the plugs. |

Plugs wont show all unless the motor was shut off "clean" at the end of a full power pass or dyno run pull. About all you can check otherwise is for erosion or porcelain boil other "damage" or excess heat signs. Idle gennerally darker than cruise but all out power on fresh plugs should see no to very little color on porcelain. The ground strap and base "carbon" ring are primary considerations then tip and porcelain condition.

WOW!!! Are you kidding me!!!! Were the rocker studs loose?? Is that a crack just to the right of the weld?

Aluminum in the guide plate stud hole shouldnt be there... does look like a crack next to the weld but could be only a scratch, the pics arent 3D...but it does look cracked.
WTH... did they hire a guy that was down the road with a sign will "work for food"? |
