GW...WOW looks fantastic!! Thanks for the tip on phosphate process, think I will try it for bolts. I have been putting them in a EvapoRust/SEM type solution and depending on how they look coming out, either use them after wiping down, or bead blast/wire wheel them and paint heads with flat black. Are you cleaning up the original fuel/break lines, or replacing them? Where did you get the red plugs to cap off the steering gear box? I have been looking for some but can't find them, unless I buy a new gear box. Thanks for the pics! Have you ever thought about writing a book/guide on auto restoration

Charles,
I have new stainless fuel and brake lines from Inline Tube. The calipers are from them as well. I had originally got them from OPG but they had a metric banjo bolt and that was just not going to fly with me, call me weird. The red caps on the steering gear where there when I got it back from being rebuilt. I took the original unit to a local shop that rebuilds for all the parts stores around. I asked them NOT to paint it as they spray everything and if I remember correctly they spray it all black. I left the aluminum raw and sprayed the cast unit with a cast grey paint.

Those wheels look great!!
You said you matched up the paint to your spare. Do you mind sharing the paint code numbers so I can have my paint shop give me the same mix? I also just masked off my wheels and cut the tape with a razor blade. Wasn't that much time and came out better than the masking kit they sell. Thanks

I think I saw your 70 once at the gas station but that is about it. And yes weather like this makes me think I should just give up the car hobby and buy an Accord I don't care about it. Rain gets old. Merry Christmas!

GW-
I'm guessing that you used a spray gun and not spray bomb's on your wheels? I have a auto paint store close by, and have had them mix paint before and put it in spray cans. Not sure if you went that way or used a gun?

At first I used some pre mixed quarts from OPG if I remember right. The one color was way off. When I called they said they were having issues with it. Pisses me off, all that work for nothing, had to re do them. It's better in the long run as I believe that stuff from them was no where near the quality I got from Sherwinn Williams. Long story short the masking kits and paint you get from some of the Pontiac suppliers are garbage. JMO.

Guys, I painted a set for a car I owned a few years ago and used rattle can Dupli-Color right off the shelf at Wal-Mart. Masked with tape and cut with a razor. Two regrets....I never recorded what colors I was using and don't remember except that it was Argent and Charcoal. The other regret is that I did not paint the backsides.
I found out that the backsides DO show when mounted on the car. ![]()

Hey Thanks Goat Whore for the paint specs. There is so much controversy about what the original colors should be and every one has their opinion. I'll have to visit my Sherman Williams paint store and see if I can get some mixed up. Maybe they can put it in spray cans?
Thanks again.

Mike worked on roughing out the fenders and I was test fitting trim.
![]() Got these re-pop tail light bezals from Richard Sargent. They are VERY nice. I looked for some time to get a set nice enough to re-chrome, when I got these I gave up the search. ![]() ![]() I took a set of lesser quality pieces of trim and cut the posts off, drilled thru that spot and it became my pattern.

I going to use the orginal block, heads, intake and carb. Will run RAIII Exhaust manifolds and a MSD ready to run with black cap.
Sent the heads and intake off to Dave bisschop @ SD Performance to get them ported to 260 cfm and rebuilt, intake port matched to RAIV. These things look awesome! They are set up to run his "Stump Puller" hydraulic roller. Pretty cool, Dave flows an intake port and sends a copy of the results. Hopefully going to get the rotaiting assembly with forged crank and cam set up this summer. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
