Default Final Body Shop Pictures

Here are the final pictures from the body shop. I'm very pleased with the results. It was neat to see how the Matador Red changed colors when different lights were on inside the shop. Still have not seen it in the daylight yet....

No new update other than I got the headliner installed since the last update. Getting started on the final assembly including dash, interior, and trim after the New Year.

One more question: since this car had black interior, I have heard the RAM AIR hood decal should be black also? The white decal would really pop in contrast, but I want to put the correct color ones on.

John, I would go white on the Ram Air decals, white would look better
and show up better, and there was no rule about the hood decals matching the interior.
Factory photos from when the cars were new show many cars with black interiors
and white hood decals.

I would go with white, would match up with the GTO emblems. Car looks excellent, reminds me of when my old Judge got painted, dammit. John.

My red on red car had white RA decals from the factory but it also had a white top.

When I restored the car I put black ones because I found that the white ones had too much pop (I had switched to a black top).

That being said the white ones look nice since the match the white of the fender emblems. I'd color key to the interior. Seems to be what they did with carousel judges.

All the Matador R/A cars i've seen have had White hood decals.
Sure that i have not seen them all tho.

69 Judges have been interior color keyed - and opposite of interior color.
Original paint car examples.

Do you have the build sheet for this one ?
Sometimes they have an ID box for callout color - or at least most of the 70 Judge Bsheets did ....

Default 69 RAIII 4spd Matador

Final Assembly which meant taking off the front clip to address a couple issues. Should be ready before the snow melts.

GTOAA National Concours Judging Chairman Jon Wacholtz is doing the final assembly, so you know it will be correct.

I could have done it myself, but with so many irons in the fire at home it might not have been done until 2015 or later. Jon offered, so I figured if I am going to drive it anytime soon, he should do it.

Well in that case - shouldn't the body plugs be galvanized and the body caulk white (yellows over time). Picture from Framingham plant car.

Nope, this is a Baltimore car and they used the greenish tint caulking around the body plugs. We tried to replicate it as best we could from an original chunk we removed. It's just a driver anyway...
