The only problem with grease on battery terminals is the grease will seep in between the cable end and the battery, and create a hard, insulating crust, that one day will prevent the engine from starting. Spray paint is actually a better alternative as it dries hard, yet keeps the air off of the terminals, so corrosion doesn't build up.
