I received a note from the person making the suggestion about the Bronze on Steel Valve Guide Installation suggestion to Don. I will leave it there as the person is a friend of mine. I will not respond to any other comments about the suggestion.

Tom,
What material does Ford use for the guides in the heads on production vehicles with turbos? Stan

Not Sure, Stan, but I can have you an answer by tomorrow evening.
Most of our stuff is Overhead Camshaft stuff which may not suffer the same valve guide durability issues as the previous Push Rod type engines. Tom V.

While the production stuff may not be as high an RPM as some of the race stuff here (some of those stock OHCs do get up there) it does have to last much long before maintenance is performed. Stan

At least 400 cfm because that's what they flow as cast LOL. Joking aside though I think with the 2.25" intake valve that we are going to use. We are shooting for around 440 cfm @ .800". I think the port opening is going to be more important than the actual flow number. I want the port openings at the pushrod tubes CSA to be big enough that it is not going to be the restriction. That area we are looking for 4.4"-4.6" of CSA at the pushrod tube cross section. I'm told that with a forced induction situation the cfm is not as critical as it is for a normally aspirated engine. I am really excited about getting the opportunity to work with this combo so that I can research and expand my knowledge level. I feel forced induction is going to be the way of the future because it's so street-able.

I've seen a few thin wall bronze guide liners chip, crack and come apart, but I've not seen a proper phosphur bronze valve guide break up. I have seen a couple fall out though! (due to poor machining or fitting).

Nice, even a modded frame goes a good way under the car and full seam welding helps.
Looks like you have a good welder. We have some of the best in the Detroit area. Tom V.
