The Victor intake made peak power at 7000 rpm and with the BOP intake peak power was at 7300/7400 rpm. With the little hp differance we use the Victor intake rather than at a higher rpm with the BOP intake. Now that said it is a nitrous only set up and we have only gone to the expense of setting up the fogger system for the Victor intake. If we were to do so for the BOP intake it might be a differant situation, but we have never done so.

.
We found 30+hp with our Victor at 8000 vs the BOP.

Now that was funny. It should pick up quite a bit with more area above the carb. Was it like that on your best pass?

Well I must have picked up those HP running through a small Shaker air cleaner over the dyno stack!

To the OP , a good cylinder head guy is a good cyl head guy, it does not matter if they have worked with that particular head before or not. Lots of people think that there's a certain level of Voodoo with every particular head , there is NOT. The principles for this stuff are all the same from one head to another. Only the limitations with the casting s change.

Only 1/4 mile passes I had this year were at Norwalk and we were fighting suspension issues with the rear shocks. Best pass that weekend was an 8.70@126. Spun hard. Plus we also learned the progressive linkage on the carbs was only giving us 3/4 throttle. Went to the Shakedown with new rear shocks and tied the front end down. First pass stood it up and still went 5.45@127. I really think with more suspension tuning and a new converter this thing should run 5.20s & 2900lbs. Motor is going to come apart because I'm showing 30% leak down on #6 past the intake valve.

Glad to see you are doing better....is that the BOP I bought from you? Your memory was foggy then on numbers. Your alltimers must be in remission. Seriously, how can you compare a BOP and victor on a smaller motor app.? Sounds like a miss match of parts? A BOP is clearly optimized for a bigger cube motor.

Sorry for the derail on the topic,...raining here too and catching up on as the Pontiac earth spins....

Hey, I did flow a early Kauffman cnc 400 cfm port on Meaux's sf 600. The port did right at 400 peak, which is pretty darn close to what Kauffman advertised.

John, I know there are some very gifted individuals out here, but I'm trying to weigh in some variables that will work with me and my timetable, there has to be easy a half a dozen guys that will perform sheer magic to my heads, but I may not get them back this season, or I may simply not be able to afford their talents, I've been quoted some amazing flow numbers and prices to go along with them, and I would like to stay relatively local if possible as in Tri-states area plus Ct.

If I may ask, at what lift did they reach this number?

I don't carry the dyno sheets around with me. I told you the Victor did better.

Meaux quit flowing at .950 lift on a 4.35 bore and they did mid 380s at the same lift on a 4.28 bore. These were some of the first batch of cnc heads they sold years ago.

They probably have improved their cnc program by now.

Are you wanting a class motor head or best bang for the buc job? Hand porting involves digging deeper in the pocketbook as a general rule.

This transaction went on for some time. Loose your sheets? 30 hp would be a number I could remember....and evidently you did at this point. lol

I travel for a living and can be gone for weeks at a time. If you really wanted to know the exact number you could have held off until I looked it up. If you feel I cheated you I'll buy it back for what I sold it to you for.
Here are the dyno sheets for you and anyone else that might be interested. The BOP is basically stock except for being port matched and 1" milled off of carb pad and opened up to work with my carb. The Victor has be HEAVILY ported by Dan Barton

Wasn't the Victor that Dan had ported cut in half for extra serious work then welded back together ?
