Green 65 Riv with 55,000 original miles on it, and I've really enjoyed the car....wish I had bought one decades ago! Below are pics of the original 65 Riv, and the one I own now......

63-65 Rivs are the coolest personal luxury car ever built. GM hit the nail on the head with both the interior and exterior styling. A close second would be the early Grand Prixs.

With four kids,camping vacations and with my dad being a weekend musician,he all ways bought basic station wagons. Dog dish hub caps,AM radio,heater,that's it.mostly Chevy's.The one i liked the most was his 56 ford 2-door wagon.Had a 312 with duals.Every Sunday he would take us for ice cream and then on the way home he would turn onto country club lane.Once past the golf coarse he would nail that Ford down the hill onto a long straight."Dad! What are you doing.Cleaning off the spark plugs son"

My dad worked for a Buick dealer in 1973, so he ordered a new 73 GS Stage 1, with an automatic. He built a Stage 2 motor with help from the zone rep. He was driving it hard(wont admit to street racing) and it jumped a curb when it shifted 2-3. He ended up hitting a telephone pole and totaled it. That is the one he talks about the most as being fun. He sold it 1978 and in the late 80's we tried to buy it back.

How would you be trying to buy back a car that was totaled.....didn't it go to a junkyard?

My dad was a white collar worker who thought cars were to get from point A to B. His most exciting car was a 78' Toyota Celica. I did dig the 72' big block powered 2500 Suburban he pulled his boat with though.
My MOM drove a '68 Tempest with Cragar SS rims when I was in grade school (early 70's). Now THAT car I'd like to have back.

The car was rebuild able. It hit right in the middle of the front bumper. The insurance company totaled it, but he bought it back to repair it. He ended up selling it before fixing it. The guy he sold it to did repair it.

For all of those '65 Riv "like Dad had" fans - this from YB which planned to be run at Bonneville Salt Flats



6,000 pound weight is said to keep car on salt for traction due to no wings allowed for class designation.

His 1970 Olds Cutlas. He had to trade it in on a Toyota wagon due to having two kids and the gas crunch in the mid 70's and he never bitched about it once even though I know he loved that car. Just the kind of guy he was, he always put family first. I'd love to find one and restore it for him one day.
