I guess is the best way to tell the diff 73-74 have that orange-ish hue from what I understand I also know that how the pic is taken will effect the color.....when I first took a pic of the dash insert it looked like the pic Formulabruce put up which is darker " looking " ....with the flash on it has the different orangy hue.....which is the pic I posted.... This is the same insert just different lighting.....

How are things going? Had some down time and decided to play.
Took a picture of a dash panel with no holes. Cut a chunk of backer board material from work to the rough shape of the filler plate. Printed the picture, trying to adjust tint and cut out a section using the filler plate again. Used wood glue to attach the two pieces (backer and picture) and sprayed with clear. Just need to punch or drill the mounting holes. |

I have a bezel out of a 73 or 74. Some idiot cut where the ac vents would be on a ac car and installed a lcd clock from the 80's. I would sell cheap if you are interested. It would be a good one to cut!

...or plan B;
You could put a Red switch or push button and label it NOS, that's a real attention grabber when parked.

CNC;
Sorry I totally misunderstood your PM - I thought you were deleting the heater controls. I do have spare dash inserts - I might even have the exact part you're looking for... I'll post some pics in the next day or three (by posting here I'm subscribing for updates too).

the stupid energy saver bulb makes everything look yellow;
![]() The ralley gauge insert is from a '75, I used it for a short period in my car, and rewired the defog switch as an ignition kill (I was a little paranoid). The non gauge insert is from an 80 or 81; I believe that the heater controls no longer had a dash insert cover starting in 1978. I doubt either of these will interest you, but it's all I have to offer. ![]() I think scanning and printing a section is a slick idea - I would just worry about it fading. Finding a donor dash insert to cut a chunck from is also a great "plan B", but finding real 3m overlay thats a match would be most ideal.

There's variations but the woodgrain used for dash facias is rosewood.

have you created a thread here looking for a '73 dash insert?
i realize you're not exactly looking for, but who knows what you might be offered - just by asking... it surprises me how often searches do end on a positive note here - this is a genuinely helpful bunch; which is doubly nice considering how many keyboard commandos are out there on forums like this.

Nope On the dash bezel insert no thread...like I said it's not a huge deal I can live with it for as long as it takes....
I guess if all else fails then yes I'll post a looking for a wood grain bezel with ralley gauges The pic I posted is of the original bezel from the car but no ralley gauges so it would have to be cut to take the black trim rings ...but then I didn't want to cut the original bezel I've been offered a few I've got something coming but won't see it till July...week before Norwalk .... I'm still lookin around here for somethin as well. I appreciate all the help on here everyone is great that's for sure...
