You wrote Tempest HO so I'm not sure you meant me, but if you did, here's a pic of our Lemans'. White one is the 350HO 4speed. Red one is mild modded 350 (not HO) 4 speed. Both have Pearl (white) interior with consoles.

Diego (board member) visited the GM Heritage Center and got numbers for me that stated there were 176, 1968 350HO-manual trans. convertibles. The info didn't breakdown how many were 3 speed manual vs. 4 speed manual but I'm sure there were some delivered as 3 speed so number might be less than 176 but I'm liking 1 of 176.
Of course they're probably only rare because for only a few shekels more you could have bought a GTO but with only 30 HP less than your average 68/69 400 GTO I enjoy the car just as much as one.
I'm a big fan of the Tempest/Lemans/Firebird 350HO's as well as Oldsmobile's Cutlass with their W-31 350 Ram Rod model.

At least I have the black top already lol.

I was at the Monroe Wa swap meet a few years ago and found a set of 48's that had small valves. What would they have been used on ? They were definitely 69 dated 48's.I didn't think that there was such a thing but I saw them with my own eyes.

Must be 46 heads, small valve high compression used on 400 2bbl and 428 4bbl (360 horse) on the big cars. A little scale and the 8 and the 6 look the same.

But she is in the middle of a full restoration. Sorry didn't mean to high jack this post, just couldn't pass it up.
I have a 68 Lemans HO 3 speed manual. The code on the engine is WR...is this correct?

There was two of us looking at them and 46 was what we expected to see but there was no doubt that we were looking at 48's.

Yep WR code is correct for TEMPEST (also Lemans) '68 350 HO. Heads, as you know, are 18's.

More info than you wanted but if you're into that sort of thing it's cool to see what may be still original after 45 years.

300Deluxe, If you can post a short video of the exhaust sound. I'm curious what the idle sounds like. There is a link in my signature to hear mine.
