I love fox bodies with a passion, but 20k for a 90 GT Vert is insane no matter how low the miles are. For 20k I would buy a 93 Cobra, which are sure to increase in value.

That said, out of the two cars mentioned, the Fox is by far the better car to buy. Plus it'll actually be fun to drive, if decide to drive it.

Good and I mean really good 3rd Generation Trans Ams, {T tops low milage, good colors are probably 12-15 grand cars right now. Grand nationals, 20-35 if there real good low milage t top cars. People are asking 15 grand for low mileage GT conv. Not many have under 10000 miles, red , leather, immaculate cars. Now that the 2nd Generation Trans Ams are high, {I sold one for 25gs 2 months ago, whats left? Boss we need an opinion here! What Pontiac , I already have a 10000 mile WS6 Conv, can I do better on ? Rubber City Classic has a Don Sitts {local dealer] 67 Firebird OHC 6 conv 4 speed{?} for 24000. Is that better?

Spot on. The Fox Body Cobras are just starting to come into their own. They had one on the cover of Hemings Muscle Machines a few months ago talking about them shooting up in value. With that said, I feel since I've owned several Mustangs over the past 25 years, that I'm in tune to the values. We happen to have a triple-black 1990 GT convert with leather and the "25 Years" badge on the dash. These cars are not worth anything near 20k, not yet anyway. I know of a few with less than 10k miles that look like new cars and you can get them for under 15k. We have a 1994 Cobra, I have owned it for 21 years, it's still got the pushrod motor, it's a fun car also. That's way, way too much for the 1990 GT no matter how nice it is. You will be waiting a long time to ever get that money back. Decent 1993 Cobras are in that range. It you want a fox ragtop, look for a 1993 LX 5.0 "Feature Car" in Canary Yellow, those are fairly rare, limited to 1400 or so. I bought one for 5k and sold it for 8k and the guy I sold it to got 14k for it on EBay. My wife's GT can be seen in the pix I attached, next to my Judge, behind the GT500. That's her 2002 Tbird on the top rack above my blue '68, that's another fun car you might want to look at. Those are great riding cars with a removable hardtop and have held value well...

Pontiacs and Fords get along good in my shop.

my opinion..dont buy the sprint..niche market..its almost a V-8 but not quite

i bought a 50k mile 84 formula auto car.silver and red..no tops..for 3k...ive turned down 10k 3 times from 50 year old guys..because i think it will do better in the summer..i was lucky..but suddenly those 3rd gens are starting to warm up

but..thats what i look for..

lots of eye appeal...one owner car and they lost track of its value...

theres no real 7500- 10 year old restos anymore..i was trying to make a point find that gap and fill it

i have a friend making a living on 87 to 93 fox bodies...

the cop cars bring a premium..so do saleen type cars and cobras etc...lots of compititon

One of my best friends sells parts for fox bodies and has three full storage units filled with parts. You mentioned the Saleens, he has a Burgundy 1987 Saleen with about 70k miles, he's only asking $8500. He wanted to trade me even up for the red '68 GTO I had but I turned it down for obvious reasons. Those Saleens are very rare, especially an '87... But he hasn't had any takers for over a year now. Car is pretty solid with original interior and driveline.

1988 & up Players Cup 1LE R7U Canadian race cars, Camaro or Firebird
1989 L98 GTA or Formula Convertibles
1991 Formula 1LE t-top cars
1989-92 1LE IROC & Z28's
1987 & 88 LB9/5spd G92 IROC Convertibles
1991/92 Firehawks
1989 TTA
1992 B4C RS Police Package Camaro

The 1st & 2nd gens will continue to appreciate but for immediate returns (buying from one guy who doesn't know the value & selling to one who does) and short term gains, the 3rd gens are the ones to be picking up now.

I picked up my 91 1LE Camaro, a 60,000 mile special order car for a female Delco executive that included a leather interior, power locks & rear defroster in Milford Michigan this past may for $9,500. There's a very cool Players Cup car I'm negotiating on that may or may not end up here, and one of the 1991 T-top Formula 1LE cars has been found as well.

Edit: I've also looked at two 1989 L98 Convertibles recently, a GTA that I passed on and John Glasgo checked out a Red Formula in Ohio for me that ended up getting a deposit the day before he got there.

Just like RA IV cars, you can find them, you just need to be ready to buy at the time because they won't last.

Both of those cars are outrageously priced. the riviera? at least 8,000 too much. The Mustang? You can buy a very nice 2013 Mustang for 20 k.......10 times better looking,
310 hosepower in the v-6 with 31 mpg gas mileage. I wouldn't trade my 2013 Mustang for
five 90 Mustangs with zero miles on them.

Tease you with a little more info here on Pontiac 3rd gens since this info is hard to come by...

60 1991 1LE Trans Am's were built, 19 of those with t-tops
46 1991 1LE Formulas were built, 8 of those with t-tops

1991 was the only year that T-tops showed up on an F-Body 1LE, 104 total TA 1LE's built between 1988 & 1992, and 68 Formulas including most of the 91/92 Firehawks.

I've found 1 of the t-top TA's and two of the Formulas.

I think the OP was talking about future values as collector cars and not about horsepower or gas mileage. My wife's GT is so slow that her Escape could beat it in a drag race. She likes to drive it in the summer with the top down.

Holy hell, that thing is sweet! I'd keep it the way it is, even though that interior is a little "loud" for me.

There was someone selling an LT5 on my local CL not long ago, I wish I bought it now. I'd put it in the 81 T/A

It doesn't get much more 80's than that! I think that paint job and interior were out of style by 1992, though. I saw tons of cars like that in '90. Not so much a couple of years later.

My brother's former neighbor had a nice one under a blanket in his garage 7 years ago. I don't remember if he told me what he paid for it. He's probably long since sold it.
Those are the only 87-93 5.0 Mustang I'd consider an investment.
I got here late but I whole heartidly agree with everyone who said the GT in the OP is not worth $20 Gs. Some fool might cough up $24,500 for it but I would not want to be the one sitting on it, holding out for that.

As for the '85 Riv; I'm into 87-89 LeSabre T types, which are much rarer than the mid eighties Riviera (original production). There have been one or two '89 LeSabre T types with less than 20,000 miles surfacing on the internet in the last ten years that the sellers had a bitch of a time getting more than $10 G for. Actually, I think the Silver one that's most well documented sold for around $8,000.
