GW, I have been thinking about purchasing a soda blaster and looking at one they sell at Harbor Freight. What brand blaster do you have and where did you buy it? As always excellent job and thanks for documenting your work.

They look great. Never used a soda blaster but I know that I accidentally got a little sandblast inside my door area and thought I'd never get the grit out of the window regulator.

Yikes $7K.....I'm sure the Harbor Freight blaster won't even begin to scratch the surface as it cost about $100.00-200.00 depending which one you buy. Well there goes that idea. Guess I will have to farm stuff like that out. Saving my money for the next big purchase which is a 2 post lift. Getting to old to lie on a creeper and slide under cars up on Jack stands. She's looking good GW!!! Can't wait to see her finished. She is going to be just drop dead gorgeous!

Well spent all day redoing rhe windows that the "window" guy did. What a f-ing hack! Luckily did no irreversible damage. He did not install the guides in the doors so we had to remove glass and belt moldings to install. Too small of screws in belt molding so they just spun, part of belt molding tucked behind door, no stops or guides in rear quarters, brackets for door panels not installed, yada yada yada. Note to self, don't let other people touch your car!
On a side note anyone else notice how hard it is to find a good drivers side door lock remote control. The springs are either broke or their sloppy as hell.

I've learned that lesson over and over again. I seem to get some grief in other threads, asking so many questions, and about how to do things myself .... built vintage race motorcycles for two decades .... literally 90% of the people you pay to do work on them makes a mess of it ... hence I end up with lathes, milling machines, welders, benders, etc, etc. etc. to do the stuff myself

My tires need balancing right now and I'd planned to remove them, toss them in the truck and take them to the tire shop. I don't even trust anyone to do that much.

How about some more photos and info on that headliner installation ... I hear they are a pain. Whatcha got there ... a bunch of little clips around the edges?

What I got is someone who does this for a living installing the headliner.
 He worked on it for 7hrs and still needs to come back tomorrow to finish. Looks like something best left to a pro.

Used a heat gun a lot and took his time and more then once said how it just wasn't cooperating. If I understood him right when we first talked, he charges around $500 to install the headliner. He makes his own sail panel pieces out of abs and I don't know if that's included or not. I wasn't about to question him about pricing too much as he came highly recommend and I know $500 for a headliner is in line with others I've heard about. That price does not include the price of the material.

He finished the headliner today and it looks awesome! $500 labor and it included the sail panels. He spent at least 10hrs on that sucker and it was worth every penny!
I've been sanding like mad on all the bright work. This picture is after dents removed and sanded with 320. Only 9 more steps to go.  Cordova top slated for Tuesday.

Can't you just put that trim work to the buffing wheel after the dents are out?
Most of the SS will buff out beautifully on a wheel. |
